Melbourne Victory midfielder and three-cap CommBank Matilda Beattie Goad has announced her retirement from football.
The 27-year-old is set to play her 75th and final Ninja A-League game in Saturday afternoon’s Big Blue between Victory and Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.
Goad began her Ninja A-League career as a 16-year-old in 2013, and contributed to Victory’s first Championship triumph in her debut season in the league.
Two seasons at Victory were followed by one season at Melbourne City and Goad’s second Ninja A-League Championship before her move abroad in 2016.
A college graduate after four years at Stanford University in the United States, Goad then enjoyed a three-year footballing journey in Europe with SV Meppen in Germany and UDG Tenerife in Spain which coincided with her Matildas debut in 2021 against Germany.
In 2022, Goad returned to Victoria both to complete her medical studies at Melbourne University and to continue her football at Victory. Midway through her third season back at the club, Goad has called time on her playing career.
