Newcastle Jets sign local GK to scholarship deal: ‘I never thought I could achieve it

Newcastle Jets have signed goalkeeper Ally Boertje to a scholarship contract for the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season.

Boertje – a local shot-stopper – arrives at the Jets having previously played for NNSW NPLW sides New Lambton and Warners Bay.

The Jets are preparing for the Round 3 showdown against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.

“I am very excited to be playing in the A-League with my home team,” she said.

Jets head coach Ryan Campbell, whose side have one point from their opening two matches, added: “Ally has worked really hard in the local NPL to demonstrate her potential.

“Her shot stopping is excellent and she is working hard in training on her ability to play with the ball at her feet.

“She communicates well and I am sure she will make the most of every second in training and games that she is involved with.”
