AOC Appoints Odgers Berndtson to Lead CEO Search

The AOC today announced the appointment of global executive search firm Odgers Berndtson to lead the search for the organisation’s next Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment of Odgers Berndtson follows the announcement that the AOC’s CEO Matt Carroll will step down from the role after the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in May 2025.

AOC President Ian Chesterman said the appointment of the organisation’s next CEO comes at an exciting and critical time for the Olympic Movement in Australia.

“We are delighted to be working with the team at Odgers Berndtson in the search for a new CEO to help us maximise the opportunities as we head to Brisbane 2032 and beyond,” Mr Chesterman said.

“We expect great interest in the role and Odgers Berndtson will run a full international search to help us find the best possible person to lead the AOC across the next decade.

“It’s a role that can see the successful candidate have an enormous impact on Australian sport and the success of a home Olympic Games,” he said.

Odgers Berndtson Partner Tom Mutch welcomed today’s announcement.

“It’s a real privilege for our Global Sports Practice to partner again with the AOC,” Dr Mutch said.

“The breadth and depth of our Olympic and Paralympic experience globally means we are well positioned to support the AOC on this critical appointment.”

The role will be formally advertised in the New Year.
