THE OLYMPIC TORCH LEADS THE DANCE IN ORLÉANS AND THE LOIRET!

Archetypal villages, castles, stately mansions and a well-preserved environment awaited the Olympic Torch in the Loiret, on Wednesday 10th July.

The 53rd stage of the Olympic Torch Relay, sponsored by Coca-Cola, Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Épargne, put the spotlight on the diversity of the area’s landscapes, which combine forests and seemingly unending wheat fields.

The area’s natural and cultural assets were illuminated by the Olympic Torch, all the way to Orléans, where volleyball enjoyed pride of place with a collective relay organised at Place du Martroi.

The city was figuratively set alight to the rhythm of dancer Lou Orblin’s steps in a ‘Cultural Olympics’ labelled performance. Mona Francis, para-triathlon European Champion in 2022 and one of the captains of the Olympic Torch Relay, had the honour of lighting the cauldron at the celebration venue to end the day on a high note.
