Truro City boss John Askey says it is “baffling” how his side managed to lose 1-0 at home to Salisbury in National League South.
The Tinners had the better of the possession and created a number of openings, especially in the second half.
But Josh Hedges’ eighth-minute goal proved to be the difference for Salisbury, who also hit the crossbar in the first half.
Will Dean went close for the hosts after the break while Jordan Alonge hit the post for Salisbury.
“It’s difficult to sum it up,” Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall. “Obviously we conceded a goal early, that gave them something to cling on to.
“We’ve done everything but put the ball in the back of the net.
“It’s just baffling sometimes when you have so much possession and so many balls going into the box, and it just didn’t fall at all for us tonight.”
The loss was just Truro’s second in the league this season and pushed them down to seventh in National League South as Salisbury moved up to fourth.
The loss came after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Walton & Hersham on Saturday.
“Saturday I was frustrated because I thought we played poorly,” Askey added.
“Today I thought we played quite well, but it was just that final finish, and there were times when we should have finished and should have hit the back of the net, and we haven’t.
“But I don’t think you’ll see as many balls going into the opposition’s box as what you saw tonight probably for the rest of the season.
