Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial close to signing for Málaga after turning down €10m offer

Anthony Martial (30) is reportedly close to signing for Málaga CF, currently 18th in La Liga, according to Foot Mercato.

A free agent since the termination of his contract with CF Monterrey and looking for a new challenge to revive his career, the former Manchester United forward is therefore expected to set up home in Spain shortly, having notably turned down two approaches from Ligue 1 clubs.

Martial has not, however, been courted solely in Europe; Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli, who have just secured the services of Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal (32), also attempted to persuade the Frenchman to join them.

This determination even led the club’s management to offer the 30-year-old player an astronomical contract, comprising a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, coupled with a staggering signing bonus of 5 million euros.

However, he is reported to have turned down this offer, preferring instead to commit to a genuine sporting project.
