A 24-member Indian squad will compete at the World Archery Youth Championships 2025, scheduled to start in Winnipeg, Canada, from Tuesday.
Live streaming of the World Archery Youth Championships 2025 recurve and compound finals from August 22 to 24 will be available in India.
The archery competition will run from August 18 and conclude on the 24th.
The World Archery Youth Championships 2025 is the 19th edition of the biennial meet that has been held since 1991. A total of 570 top youth archers from 63 countries around the world will be vying for medals in Winnipeg.
This year’s championships feature men’s and women’s events across team, mixed team and individual formats in both Under-18 and Under-21 age groups, contested in both recurve and compound disciplines.
Each nation can field up to 24 archers, with a maximum of three per category across the eight competition classes.
In total, 20 titles will be decided in Winnipeg – eight in team events, four in mixed team and eight in individual – with the finals to be staged over three days at The Forks in central downtown.
India dominated the previous edition held in Limerick, Ireland, two years back, claiming six golds, including three in individual events, and finishing with the highest overall medal tally of 11.
Aditi Swami won the women’s U18 crown while Parth Salunkhe and Priyansh picked up the U21 men’s titles in recurve and compound, respectively.
Olympian Bhajan Kaur, who won a bronze in individual women’s U21 recurve in Limerick 2023, will be hoping to upgrade the colour of her medal in Winnipeg. Bhajan is also an Asian Games bronze medallist.
Bhajan’s fellow Hangzhou 2023 medallist Parneet Kaur, who was also part of the gold medal-winning women’s compound team in Limerick, is also in this year’s squad.
Parneet also happens to be the top-ranked women’s compound archer in this year’s event at world No. 14.
Agastay Singh, a bronze medal winner from the 2023 Youth World Championships, is also in the fray.
