Cats swing late change with electric forward to miss Bombers clash

GEELONG has swung a late change for its Friday night clash with Essendon, with last week’s four-goal hero Jack Martin withdrawn from the game.

Jhye Clark is his replacement, named for his first game since round nine.

He will start as sub, with Jye Menzie the sub for the unchanged Bombers.

The Cats have said Martin – who has a history of soft-tissue injuries – has been managed.

The Cats (14-6) have an easy run home and should finish in the top four as Jeremy Cameron continues his charge towards 100 goals this season.

The superstar forward has kicked 75 goals in 2025 as he looks to become the first player since Lance Franklin in 2008 to boot 100 in a season.

The Bombers, meanwhile, have lost nine straight games as they continue to deal with an injury crisis.

The Cats have made one change, resting veteran Patrick Dangerfield and recalling Mitch Knevitt.

Oskar Smartt has been dropped by the Bombers with Menzie coming back into their side.
