COLOMBO – The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Monday announced the postponement of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2025, originally scheduled to begin on June 6 in Sri Lanka.
The decision came following a formal request from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, citing adverse weather conditions and the spread of the mosquito-borne disease chikungunya as primary concerns.
The ACC, according to a statement, confirmed that the request for postponement had been approved and assured that new dates for the tournament would be announced shortly.
The Women’s Emerging Asia Cup serves as an important platform for upcoming talent in women’s cricket across Asia, and the ACC’s decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
However, according to some reports, it is because of India which expressed no interest in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup. India, after Pahalgam incident, blamed Pakistan for terrorism without providing any evidence while Pakistan completely denied.
However, India carried out attacks on Pakistan’s soil, in retaliation, Pakistan downed six fighter jets of India. US President Donald Trump intervened and played a key role to end the escalation between the two neighbors.
