Queensland teen joins Brisbane Roar: ‘It’s been a goal of mine since I was a little girl’

Brisbane Roar have signed FQ Academy QAS defender Amali Kinsella on a short-term injury-replacement contract in the Ninja A-League.

The 19-year-old Queenslander has excelled in Football Queensland’s elite women’s youth program (FQ Academy QAS), awarded the Sue Monteath Award as the 2024 FQ QAS Player of the Year as well as the Under 18 Players’ Player Award after a standout season.

Available for Sunday’s showdown against two-time defending champions Sydney FC, Kinsella also established herself as a train-on player with the Roar.

“Playing with the boys until I was 16 taught me so much about myself as a player and what I was capable of,” Kinsella said.

“It has been a goal of mine to play for Brisbane Roar since I was a little girl, so I am so grateful for Alex giving me this opportunity and I look forward to learning more and growing as a footballer.”
