Macarthur academy product seals European move as Bulls continue to cash in on young talent

Macarthur FC have agreed a fee for 21-year-old centre-back Oliver Jones with a European club, in a deal that includes bonuses and a sell-on percentage.

Jones, a Macarthur academy product, has been a mainstay in the Bulls’ back four this season, starting all eight of his appearances in 2024-25 after breaking into the squad in Round 7.

The overseas move comes just three weeks after Jones signed a three-year contract extension at the Bulls.
Jones departs Australia having made 38 appearances for Macarthur in all competitions. He’s the second young Bulls prospect to have received an overseas move in the January transfer window following 20-year-old winger Ariath Piol’s move to Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake.

Club CEO Sam Krslovic wished Jones all the best ahead of his European move.

“We are extremely pleased for Oli. Having been in the academy since the club’s inception, he exemplifies what is possible through hard work and dedication,” Krslovic said.

“We will be proudly watching from afar as Oli progresses in his career.”
