Macarthur bolster midfield stocks as Stoke youth product returns home for first A-Leagues stint

Macarthur Bulls have brought Stoke City youth product Peter Makrillos back to Australia for the midfielder’s first stint in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

Makrillos, 29, has signed for the club for the remainder of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. He joins the Bulls from K-League outfit Suwon Samsung Bluewings – one of three Korean clubs Makrillos has represented since 2023 along with Seoul E-Land FC and Chungbuk Cheongju.

Makrillos grew up in New South Wales prior to a six-year stint in the youth ranks at English Premier League club Stoke City.

The midfielder has enjoyed senior stints in clubs in Greece, Finland, Bulgaria, Denmark and Sweden, but says he’s most excited to return home and play in the Isuzu UTE A-League – an opportunity that will fulfil a lifelong dream.

“I’m really excited. It’s an honour to be a part of this club and I’m really excited for the future.”

“Obviously I’ve played in many different countries. I’ve had a lot of different experiences, many different cultures. So, I’m really happy to be able to bring all my experience here to Macarthur.”

“I’m really excited to be playing in the A-League, it’s been a goal of mine for a long time so I’m really happy to get started. This club is close to where I grew up, and when this club (was) founded, it was really something close to my heart.”

“It’s a club I’ve always wanted to play for.

“The club is in a really good position, and I think I can bring a lot of good things to the club with my ability. So, I’m aiming to help the team as much as I can on the pitch and help the young players as much as I can.”
