Academy graduate continues ‘rapid rise to stardom’ with new deal: ‘In our club history forever’

Western United academy graduate Jordan Lauton has signed a two-year contract extension with the Isuzu UTE A-League side.

Lauton has been rewarded with a new deal in Tarneit after impressing for John Aloisi’s high-flying Western in 2024-25 amid his “rapid rise to stardom”.

The 21-year-old midfielder has already engrained himself in the club’s folklore after his outrageous 95th-minute bicycle kick against Perth Glory at the start of January.
Lauton has made seven appearances for the Green and Black in 2024-25 after debuting last season. He also boasts a 75% win rate – the best of any player in Western’s history to have played more than one game.

“It’s unbelievable. Coming from the West, from Ballarat – it’s just unreal and I haven’t really processed it yet,” Lauton said.

“I’m so grateful – from the boss, Diogo (Ferreira) and Dura (Andrew Durante), just giving me that chance to show what I have to offer for the team. Obviously, the sacrifice from myself and also to my parents, just supporting me every step of the way off the pitch.

Western general manager of football Mal Impiombato added: “Jordy embodies everything that we preach in our Academy pathway – hard work, strong personal values, persistence and a readiness to take your opportunity when it comes.

“It has been extremely pleasing to see how Jordy has adapted in the first team after a number of years in the Academy and he has earned every chance he has received.
