CommBank Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy has joined American club Angel City FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
The A-Leagues great has signed a one-year contract through 2025 with a mutual extension option for the 2026 season for an undisclosed transfer fee after leaving Manchester City in England’s Women’s Super League (WSL).
“I am really excited to join Angel City and return to the NWSL,” said Kennedy. “I was inspired by the club’s mission and purpose and I am looking forward to arriving in LA and meeting all my teammates.
“Equally, I am excited to get to work and contribute to the team’s success on the field.”
Kennedy joining Angel City FC marks a return to the NWSL, having previously played for New York Flash (2016) and Orlando Pride (2017-20).
During her time with the Flash, she won the 2016 NWSL Championship.
“Alanna is an experienced defender who brings both leadership and a winning mentality to our team, said ACFC sporting director Mark Parsons.
“Her international experience with Australia, coupled with her ability to play in multiple defensive positions, makes her a versatile addition to our roster.
“We look forward to seeing her contribute to the culture and success of Angel City.”
