Western Sydney Wanderers announce departure of head coach

Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed head coach Robbie Hooker has left the Ninja A-League club by mutual consent.

The 57-year-old missed the Wanderers’ incredible 4-4 draw with Melbourne Victory in Round 10 due to personal reasons and Western Sydney have now confirmed both parties have agreed to part ways.

Taking charge of the Wanderers at the beginning of the 2023-24 Ninja A-League season, Hooker’s side narrowly missed out on qualifying for last season’s Finals Series on the final day of the regular season.

However, with just one win to their name from nine matches this season the Wanderers find themselves sat second-bottom of the ladder.

Having overseen their most recent clash in the Ninja A-League, Wanderers Women’s Academy Technical Director Geoff Abrahams will now lead the team on an interim basis until a successor can be found.

The Wanderers will have a quick turnaround under coaches, with a home game to come against Wellington Phoenix on Thursday January 9.
