In Tuesday night’s Isuzu UTE A-League showdown at Suncorp Stadium, there was a moment that sparked debate after Timmins’ thunderous effort cannoned off the crossbar and onto the line before bouncing away in the 27th minute.
As the drama unfolded, Paramount+ commentator and former A-Leagues star Erik Paartalu initially said: “I tell you what, that’s gone across the line… wow.”
Paartalu then said: “Is it clear? It looks as though there might be a piece of the line but can’t tell from that angle conclusively.”
Commentator Teo Pellizzeri added: “If that’s the only angle they have, perhaps they can be forgiven for not making a definitive judgement and trusting the on-field call.”
