Brisbane Roar defender granted exit on compassionate grounds

Brisbane Roar have granted Harry Van Der Saag a mutual release from his Isuzu UTE A-League contract on compassionate grounds.

The 25-year-old defender will take a break from professional football and return to New South Wales to be closer to his family.

Van Der Saag arrived in Brisbane from Adelaide United ahead of the 2024-25 season in July and made 11 appearances for the Roar.
“I’d like to firstly thank Brisbane Roar FC for providing me an opportunity to develop and progress my career,” he said.
“I’d like to thank the club for granting me a release and wish everybody at BRFC the best of luck for the future.”
In a statement, Brisbane said: “Everyone at Brisbane Roar thanks Harry for his contribution in orange and wishes him every success in the future.”
