Co-captain Jy Simpkin and young gun Zane Duursma are among six inclusions to North Melbourne’s provisional squad to face Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

Defenders Toby Pink and Miller Bergman have also been added to the Kangaroos’ squad for the Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash, alongside Dylan Stephens and Curtis Taylor.

As confirmed on Tuesday, Round 9 Rising Star nominee Colby McKercher will miss the match with a foot injury. Scans confirmed bone stress in McKercher’s right foot after he reported foot soreness following the club’s match against the Gold Coast Suns in Darwin.

Will Phillips and Riley Hardeman have been omitted this week.

The Roos’ extended bench will be reduced to five when the team is announced at 5pm AEST on Friday, with one interchange player to be named substitute when the final line-up is confirmed an hour before Sunday’s opening bounce.
