Ruben Zadkovich lays out Brisbane Roar’s transfer plans: ‘If we play our cards right’

Brisbane Roar head coach Ruben Zadkovich said the Isuzu UTE A-League club require at least three transfer windows “to change the fortunes of the team” as they work behind the scenes to recruit the “right type of players”.

The Roar travel to Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night still searching for their first win of the 2024-25 season, with Brisbane collecting just one point from the team’s opening six matches.

As the January transfer window looms, Zadkovich was asked about the Roar’s plans.

“It’s not an easy thing. The January window is one of the more difficult ones. But there will be growth and improvement for us if we play our cards right.

“It’s a side focus for us but it’s certainly not my main focus. My main focus is on the football department, the players, improving our processes, trying to get us to understand small moments are really big moments in games.

“If we take the initiative a bit more and ownership, we can turn results into positive results really quickly.”

“There’s some key areas we know we need to improve as a club and we’re targeting the right kind of people.”
