With her victory at the 2026 Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific, Yunseo Yang earned one point toward the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway (LEAP). This was her first point in the official LEAP standings, and she is 19 points away from the 20-point threshold required to be eligible for LPGA Tour Membership, per LEAP criteria.
Yang, from the Republic of Korea, won by eight shots over her closest competitors, Soomin Oh (2, -8), Jazy Roberts (T3, -6) and Rianne Mikhaela Malixi (T3, -6). Yang put together rounds of 64-67-72-69 to finish at 16-under total and was the only competitor in the 2026 field to record three rounds in the 60s over the four days of stroke play at Royal Wellington Golf Club. Yang became the first wire-to-wire winner of the tournament and tied the championship’s record winning margin set by Japan’s Yuka Yasuda in 2019.
With her victory, Yang earns invitations into three of the LPGA Tour’s five major championships this season – the AIG Women’s Open, The Amundi Evian Championship and The Chevron Championship.
Kiara Romero, who is No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), continues to dominate the LEAP standings, currently possessing 14 points that she has accumulated since 2023. Romero collected the majority of her points in 2025 with stellar performances at three LPGA Tour events – the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally (one point, made cut), CPKC Women’s Open (one point, top 40) and The Standard Portland Classic (two points, top 10) – and her receipt of the McCormack Medal (four points), ascension to the No. 1 rank in the WAGR (three points) and participation in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup (one point).
This week on the LPGA Tour, there is one amateur in the field at the Honda LPGA Thailand, Prim Prachnakorn. Prachnakorn, who is playing as a sponsor’s invitation, has the opportunity to earn her first LEAP points with a finish in the top 10 and ties (two points) or in the top 40 and ties (one point).
In 2025, Gianna Clemente was the only player to earn a LEAP point at the Honda LPGA Thailand, picking up one point with her T30 finish. Clemente turned professional prior to the Final Qualifying portion of the 2025 LPGA Qualifying Series, and the soon-to-be 19-year-old is returning to Thailand as a sponsor’s invite once again, doing so this time as a 2026 Epson Tour member.
