Western United head coach John Aloisi pens multi-year contract extension: Details

Western United have received a huge boost with confirmation head coach John Aloisi has signed a new two-year contract extension.

Already the club’s longest serving head coach, Aloisi will now continue to lead Western until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2026-27 season, ending all speculation about his future.

“The reason I re-signed is I still see so much growth left on and off the pitch and I can’t wait
to continue this journey together as a club, with the support of our fans who have stuck by
us through the highs and the lows,” said Aloisi.

“First season at Ironbark last season, and we already started to make it our fortress. It was so special to play there in front of our home fans and I’m eager to see them all there again cheering our boys on.

“I am super excited to continue working with this group of players, we played some great
attacking football last season and I know this group is still hungry to keep learning and
improving.”

The news comes off the back of an excellent showing from Western during the last Isuzu UTE A-League campaign where they reached the semi-finals before losing to eventual Champions Melbourne City.

Led by 16-goal striker Noah Botic who has now departed for Austrian Bundesliga side FK Austria Wien, Western finished the regular season in third spot having broken club records for most wins in a season (14), most points in a single season (47) and most goals scored in a campaign (55).

“Since he joined the club, John has revolutionised the culture from our football department
through to the admin office and left an indelible impression on everyone at the club,” said Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato

“His leadership through all of the ups and downs of a football season, his ability to encourage the very best out of our players and staff and the way he represents the club and our values in the public domain are of the highest quality and aptitude.

“We firmly believe we have one of the brightest Australian coaches and leaders at our club and we are delighted to have John guiding our group into an increasingly exciting future.”

Having guided Western to a maiden Isuzu UTE A-League Championship crown in season 2021-22, Aloisi will be hoping to get back to those loft heights this coming campaign as they bid to improve on an impressive campaign last time out

Key to that will be replacing the goals of star striker Botic who departed the club at the conclusion of his Isuzu UTE A-League contract.

Western have also lost versatile forward Michael Ruhs to Brisbane Roar whilst James Donachie, Kane Vidmar, Riku Danzaki, and Ramy Najjarine have all departed.

However, the club has moved to fill the void left by Botic with former Sydney FC striker Jaiden Kucharski now set to wear the green and black of Western this coming campaign.
