USA goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has announced her retirement from international football. The 36-year-old will call time on her decorated 11-year international career following USA’s friendlies against England on 30 November and the Netherlands on 3 December.
The Connecticut native is a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup™ winner, serving as a back-up to Hope Solo at Canada 2015 before starting all seven matches for the Stars and Stripes at France 2019.
She was also helped USA conquer the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament at Paris 2024, and collected a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020.
In her star-studded international career, Naeher has amassed an impressive record of 88 wins, 14 draws and just six defeats.

“Having the opportunity to be a part of the USWNT for the past 15 years has been the greatest honor,” said Naeher in a statement via U.S. Soccer. “When I began this journey, I never could have imagined where it would take me, and now I find myself so grateful for all the incredible team-mates that I have shared the field with; teammates that have turned into lifelong friends.
“To all my team-mates, coaches and staff, thank you all for pushing me, supporting me, and making me a better person/player every single day. A special thanks goes to my family. You have traveled all over the world and were in my corner every step of the way and I love you all.”
