USA stay top as Japan close gap

  • USA still lead Women’s Rankings, with Spain second

  • Japan climb to fifth after SheBelieves Cup glory

  • Tanzania and Kenya are the biggest climbers

USA and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ champions Spain remain the top two nations in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking – but Japan are closing in after their recent victory in the SheBelieves Cup.

The Nadeshiko climbed three places to fifth thanks to their 2-1 victory over hosts USA in the four-team international tournament. It is the first time that Japan are in the world’s top five since December 2015 and caps an incredible ascent for a side who were out of the top 10 for nearly two years between August 2021 and June 2023.

In turn, Sweden, Canada and Brazil each fall one place, with no other changes in the top 10.

Tunisia dropped 11 places – more than any other country – to 89th following their loss to Kenya. Elsewhere in the continent, Djibouti have appeared on the rankings for the first time.
