Teen’s ‘surreal’ moment after first A-Leagues goal: ‘Dreams come true

Western United academy graduate Luke Vickery savoured a landmark moment after scoring his maiden Isuzu UTE A-League goal to help the Green and Black past two-time reigning champions Central Coast Mariners.

Vickery came off the bench and restored Western’s advantage as the high-flying visitors ended their Gosford hoodoo with a 3-1 win over the Mariners on Friday night.

It was an unforgettable night for the 19-year-old, who celebrated his first A-Leagues goal while Western defeated Central Coast on the road for the first time to move up to second in the standings.

“It felt amazing,” Vickery told Paramount+ post-game

“Me and my parents always watching Central Coast on TV and we always wanted to come here and watch a game just because what a scenic pitch it is.

“To score my first goal, it’s incredible.”
