Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Marcus Younis has joined Dutch powerhouse PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan, with option to buy.
After impressing during the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season, Younis clearly caught the eye of watching scouts and will now spend this coming season on loan in the Netherlands. However he did put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension with the Wanderers before departing.
The move also includes an option for PSV buy 19-year-old Younis, should he impress during his time in Eindhoven.
“It is a bittersweet moment for Marcus as he has grown up at the club over the last eight years and we are delighted that he has signed a two-year extension,” said Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson after the deal was confirmed.
“We are very proud of him for taking the next steps in his career by playing football in Europe and we thank PSV Eindhoven for giving him this opportunity.
“We want to see our best young players make their dreams a reality and Marcus is a fantastic example of this.
“We hope to see more of our Wanderers Academy players follow in his footsteps as we continue to develop the best young talent in the country.”
Regarded as one of the brightest young talents to have emerged through the Wanderers academy, Younis joined his local A-Leagues club when he was just 12 years old, going on to make 14 first team appearances to date.
“Western Sydney means everything to me,” said the 19-year-old after news of his loan move to the Dutch top flight was made official.
“To be able to represent the members, fans and region for the last eight years is something I will forever be proud of.
“Thank you to the club and fans for all your support.”
While he may have yet to establish himself as a first team regular at the club, many believed Younis would see plenty of action this campaign as new head coach Alen Stajcic prepares for his first season in charge of the club.

The 19-year-old winger is the latest player to have left Western Sydney this off-season following the departures of club captain Marcelo, experienced midfielder Jorrit Hendrix and forward Lachlan Brook however the club has been busy signing replacements.
Towering South Korean defender Tae-wook Jeong has arrived on loan from Jeonbuk Motors to bolster the backline while former Wellington Phoenix winger Bozhidar Kraev has signed on a two-year deal.
Furthermore, Stajcic has recruited goalkeeper Jordan Holmes and handed new deals to defenders Anthony Pantazopoulos and Nathan Barrie as he looks to revitalise his squad ahead of the new season.
The Wanderers are next in action on Thursday September 12 when they take on fellow Isuzu UTE A-League side Adelaide United in the Australia Cup Quarter-Finals.
