Roar midfielder departs Brisbane for ‘opportunity overseas’

Brisbane Roar have confirmed midfielder Joe Caletti has left the Isuzu UTE A-League club by mutual consent to “pursue an opportunity overseas”.

Caletti featured just twice for the Roar under head coach Ruben Zadkovich this season and has agreed to move on from the team in search of more game time elsewhere.

Playing 67-games in all competitions across two spells with the Roar, the 26-year-old returned to Queensland at the beginning of the 2023-24 season following a brief stint in Japan.

“Thank you to the fans for their support throughout the last couple of season,” said Caletti after news of his departure was made official.

Another player who could be set to depart the Isuzu UTE A-League is Roar’s teenage talent Thomas Waddingham.

Linked with a move to English Championship sides Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday, Waddingham has caught the eye this season with his head coach recently revealing the club has received ‘a lot of offers’ for the prodigious talent.

Most recently defeated 1-0 by Western United, Zadkovich’s side welcome reigning champions Central Coast Mariners to Suncorp Stadium in Round 12.

Rooted to the bottom of the Isuzu UTE A-League ladder, Brisbane Roar are the only side in the competition yet to win a game in the 2024-25 season.
