Welcome to Rumour Mill: A look at all the transfer gossip relating to past and present A-Leagues players doing the rounds in the media.
Roar set to bolster attacking stocks with ninth off-season signing
Fresh off announcing the capture of Young Socceroos defender Dimitri Valkanis on a season-long loan, Brisbane Roar now look set to dip into the transfer market once again.
According to multiple reports online as well as the Greek club’s official facebook page, the Queenslanders have agreed a deal to sign attacking midfielder Giorgos Vrakis ahead of the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
Capable of playing as a winger or as a number 10, the 24-year-old is set to become the latest attacking weapon signed by new head coach Michael Valkanis.

Joining the likes of former Western United striker Michael Ruhs, ex-Newcastle Jets forward Justin Vidic and English striker Chris Long, Vrakis brings plenty of experience with him to Brisbane having played for Greek sides PAOK, Atromitos and Athens Kallithea as well as the Greek national youth sides.
In a further boost for the Roar, Vrakis’ potential signing will also not count towards the club’s five visa spots this season given he currently holds an Australian passport.
Ex-Premier League boss tracking Isuzu UTE A-League Golden Boot winner
Fresh off a blistering first season with Adelaide United, striker Archie Goodwin is now the subject of intense transfer speculation linking him with a move abroad.
Joining the Reds from Newcastle Jets ahead of the 2024-25 campaign Goodwin hit the ground running after recovering from injury, finishing his debut season in Adelaide with 13 goals in 26 matches – a total which saw him earn a share of the Golden Boot alongside Sydney FC’s Adrian Segecic.

According to reports online the 20-year-old could now be on the move once again with Major League Soccer (MLS) side Charlotte FC reportedly in the final stage of negotiations with the Reds to secure his signature.
Managed by former Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith, Charlotte FC are currently in their fourth season in the MLS and are seemingly all-in on recruiting one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s most talented young forwards to boost their own chances of success.
Isuzu UTE A-League Champion’s future up in the air amid reports of Saudi move
Former Melbourne City shot-stopper and Isuzu UTE A-League winner Tom Glover looks set for a move away from EFL Championship side Middlesbrough this transfer window.
The 27-year-old joined Boro in 2023 on a three-year contract after establishing himself as one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s top performing goalkeepers during his time with Melbourne City, where he won one Championship and three Premierships in City Blue.
However, Glover has struggled for regular game time since moving to Teeside and is now seemingly close to securing a permanent move away from the Riverside Stadium although his destination remains unclear, with several reports suggesting different options.

Reports emerging from Saudi Arabian news outlet Al-Riyadhiah claim Glover looks set for a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Kholood Club however that report is being disputed by local Teeside paper The Northern Echo.
According to local beat writer Dominic Shaw there has been no contact between Middlesbrough and the Saudi side and certainly no offer on the table for his services.
Glover has now entered the final year of his contract with the Championship side who are reportedly keen on signing Hull City’s Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur.
Socceroos star remains in limbo as proposed move to Austria remains on hold
Socceroos star Marco Tilio remains in limbo at Scottish giants Celtic as a reported move to Austrian side Rapid Vienna drags on.
Returning to Celtic during the off-season after clinching the Isuzu UTE A-League Championship with Melbourne City, Tilio initially featured for Brendan Rogers’ side in a number of pre-season friendlies before rumours of a loan move to the Austrian Bundesliga began to surface.
According to reporter Alexander Huber of Austrian media outlet KURIER-Sport, Tilio remains the club’s ‘only option’.

Furthermore, Rapid Viena’s Sporting Director Markus Katzer, is even quoted, saying: “The deal with Marco Tilio would be good and fair for all parties involved.”
The 23-year-old has been overlooked for both of Celtic’s opening matches of the new Scottish Premiership season, with head coach Rogers omitting him from both matchday squads.
