Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan talisman, is set to miss the opening Test of the two-match series against Zimbabwe due to personal reasons.
Rashid, who was named for the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, played the last of his five Tests against Zimbabwe in 2021.
The 26-year old had been away from red-ball cricket as per the advice of his physician following his back injury and subsequently missed the Test series against New Zealand.
The ace leg spinner on Tuesday posted a picture of himself on his official Facebook page where he was seeing posing in Netherlands on the same day when the Afghanistan Cricket Board had posted pictures of their team undergoing preparations at Bulawayo for the first Test. There wasn’t any sign of Rashid in those snaps shared by the ACB.
Later, sources from the Board confirmed to Cricbuzz that Rashid is not available for the opening Test.
“He (Rashid) is away for a charity event for 1st test as far as I am aware,” said the official.
The second Test is scheduled at the same venue in Bulawayo from January 2.
