India’s rain-affected two-day practice match against the Prime Minsters XI got underway on the second day, with the game being reduced to 46 overs per side on the lone remaining day.
Bowling first, India reduced the hosts to 138/7 at one point with Harshit Rana picking up a four-wicket haul. However, opener Sam Konstas stuck through it and got to a well-deserved hundred. The teenager was also supported by the lower-order where Hanno Jacobs hit a quickfire 61.
On the bowling front, India’s frontline pacers Rana, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna all managed to get at least six overs in with the pink ball. Similarly, the spinners Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja both got to bowl more than five overs although both were on the expensive side. India managed to bowl the PM’s XI out for 240.
But India’s all-rounders Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar got a good hit, both hitting quickfire forties, as India finished their quota of overs for 257.
Brief Scores: Prime Ministers XI 240 (Sam Konstas 107, Hanno Jacobs 61; Harshit Rana 4-44) drew with India 257/5 (Shubman Gill 50, Yashasvi Jaiswal 45).
