Queensland Claims 2025/26 Under 19 Female National Championships

Queensland has emerged triumphant as some of the best young cricketers from across Australia gathered for the Cricket Australia Under 19 Female Championships in Newcastle, Central Coast and Maitland over the past week.

Queensland overcame a dominant NSW Metro team which was striving for its fourth consecutive Under 19 title and had been undefeated before the final to claim the title, prevailing by 27 runs on Monday.
It was Queensland’s fifth Under 19 title, with their previous win coming in the 2021-22 edition.

The annual tournament, which is run as a mixed-format competition with T20 and One-Day games, gave emerging talent the chance to represent their state on the national stage, bringing the brightest young stars together for eight days of cricket.

Tasmanian captain Mia Barwick, who was one of the youngest players in the competition at just 15, claimed the Betty Wilson Award as player of the tournament. Barwick made 242 runs at an average of 48.4, including two unbeaten half-centuries, took four wickets and was potent in the field taking five catches.
Indira Panelli from South Australia took out the Leading Run Scorer Award with 355 runs at an average of 39.4, while Victoria Metro bowler Ira Aery won the Leading Wicket Taker award with 14 wickets at an average of 8.8.

Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia Head of National Development, said:

“The tournament has shown us how much incredible talent is coming through the cricket pathways, with so many strong individual and team performances across the eight days of competition in Newcastle.
“The Team of the Championships is full of outstanding talent, with players from all nine teams represented. This points to an exciting future with these players taking the next step towards elite cricket.

“On behalf of Cricket Australia, I’d like to congratulate Queensland on their fifth Under 19 Female Championships title. This was a very well deserved and a fitting finale to an excellent week of competition from all the teams.”
