PCB revises bonus points rule for Champions Cup One Day

PCB Updates Bonus Points System for Champions Cup One Day Tournament

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a revision to the playing conditions for the ongoing Champions Cup One Day tournament in Faisalabad. The update introduces a new bonus points system, shifting from the previous method of awarding points based on the margin of victory in runs or wickets to a system based on net run rate (NRR) differences.

New Bonus Points System:

  • 1 Bonus Point: For a net run rate difference of 1 run per over.
  • 2 Bonus Points: For a net run rate difference of 2 runs per over.
  • 3 Bonus Points: For a net run rate difference of 3 runs per over.

Previously, bonus points were awarded based on the number of runs or wickets by which a team won. The PCB has implemented this change to enhance the competitiveness of the tournament and promote more aggressive play.

Additional conditions include:

  • No Points Awarded: In the event of a match washout or cancellation before an innings is completed.
  • Bonus Points for High Scores: One bonus point for scoring 350 runs in an innings and two bonus points for scoring 375 runs.

These adjustments are aimed at making the competition more dynamic and engaging for both players and spectators.
