The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has pushed the PSL franchise previously branding itself as “Pindiz” to adopt a name that clearly links the team to its home city, with the side now appearing as “Rawalpindiz” across its social media platforms.
While no formal statement has been issued by the franchise or the PCB, the change is already visible online, with the team updating its official accounts.

The franchise had been listed by the PCB earlier as “Rawalpindi Pindiz,” but the team’s own social media presence continued to use “Pindiz” on its own, a branding choice that had drawn mixed reaction since the name was first unveiled.
Sources familiar with the matter say the board directed the franchise to include “Rawalpindi” in its official title, in line with the city-affiliation requirement.
The naming confusion became more noticeable after a PSL update last night referred to the team as “Rawalpindiz,” while the franchise, in a press release tied to the same development, still used “Pindiz.”
Since then, the team has aligned its public-facing branding with the league’s usage, switching its social handles and pages to “Rawalpindiz.”
The franchise originally introduced itself as “Pindiz” in February 2026, triggering a wave of debate online and divided fan reaction over whether the name properly represented the city.
The team was originally the Multan Sultans before it was acquired by Walee Technologies for a record Rs. 2.45 billion and moved to Rawalpindi ahead of PSL 11.
