The ‘major’ status of the HSBC Women’s World Championship is further proofed by the remarkable statistic that of the event’s 17 past editions, 15 have been won by major champions, making it one of the most coveted titles on the LPGA.
Last year’s champion, Lydia Ko, admitted it was a title she had targeted for a long time and her delight at adding to what was already a long list of achievements showcased just how much this event means to the world’s best players.

“This was a title I had been eying for a long time and winning it last year was such a highlight for me. The HSBC Women’s World Championship always attracts a super-tough field and just standing amongst the amazing line-up of players this afternoon definitely shows why this event has the reputation of ‘Asia’s Major.’ I am thrilled to be back in Singapore and excited for the week to begin and for the opportunity to try to defend my title.”
Local favourite and 2025 LET order of Merit winner, Shannon Tan, was watching as the crème de la crème of women’s golf assembled on the green and snuck in at the end for a selfie and to say hi to the players amongst whom she now walks confidently with an impressive three LET wins already under her belt.
Tan said:
“It’s amazing to be welcoming so many top players to Singapore. I feel really proud when they tell me how much they love Singapore and playing in this event and I am honoured to be in the field with them and thankful to HSBC for the opportunity.”
