While the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finalists have been locked in, who each team will face depends on the outcome of the final Group A fixture in Dubai.
After 16 overs, India were 57/3.
The stand-out wicket was the third with a spectacular catch from Glenn Phillips to remove a disbelieving Virat Kohli.
Both openers went in the first six overs, first Shubman Gill, trapped lbw by Matt Henry, then Rohit Sharma, caught by Will Young from Kyle Jamieson.
Then Rohit’s removal left them on 30/3 in the seventh over.
The Black Caps kept a stranglehold on the game, restricting India’s run rate; in fact, the 14th over, bowled by captain Mitchell Santner, was the first maiden bowled to them thus far this tournament.
Earlier, Santner won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The result of the fixture will also decide the teams that will face off in the semi-finals, with South Africa and Australia having finished as the top two sides in Group B.
New Zealand kickstarted their campaign with a win against hosts Pakistan and went on to defeat Bangladesh to secure qualification for the next round.
Tipped among the favourites to go all the way, India are also in red-hot form, having emerged victorious against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
