Netherlands name squad for Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier

A 14-player squad has been selected for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, set to be staged on home soil later this month.

Netherlands have announced a 14-player squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, which will pit them against Ireland, Germany and Italy.

VOC Rotterdam will host the four sides from 20 to 27 August, with the top two sides earning a place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier in Nepal in January 2026.

Squad: Babette de Leede (c, wk), Caroline de Lange, Frédérique Overdijk, Hannah Landheer, Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling, Isabel van der Woning, Lara Leemhuis, Merel Dekeling, Myrthe van den Raad, Phebe Molkenboer, Robine Rijke, Sanya Khurana, Silver Siegers

Babette de Leede, 25, will continue to lead the side as the Netherlands look to inch one step closer to the Global Qualifier ahead of the main event in England and Wales.

Head Coach Neil MacRae is confident in his team’s preparation after a strong recent showing.

“The squad has gained valuable match sharpness this week with a 2-1 series win against English Tier 1 County Essex,” he said. “Confidence and anticipation is growing ahead of our first tournament match on 20th August.”

The Global Qualifier will bring together 10 teams – Bangladesh and Scotland (who qualified automatically from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024), Thailand and Nepal from Asia, the USA from the Americas, two sides each from Africa and Europe, and one from the East Asia-Pacific region.

At the Global Qualifier, the teams will be split into two groups of five, with the top sides progressing to a Super Six stage and then the Final, where places at the main ICC event will be decided.

Ireland have also unveiled their squad for the European Qualifier.
