Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has lauded Pakistan women cricketers for putting up fight in a close loss against Sri Lankan women in the second semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 in Dambulla on Friday.
In a penultimate-ball nervy finish which saw Sri Lankan Women win by three wickets kept the spectators on the tenterhooks. Pakistan’s Saadia Iqbal claimed career best 4-16. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu lead her team home with a fine batting display.
In a post on the X (formerly Twitter) here on Friday night, he wrote, “Absolutely proud of the Pakistan Women’s cricket team! You fought with heart and determination till the very last ball. Winning and losing are both part of the game, but truly matters is the spirit and resilience you displayed.
You have lives up to the nation’s expectations and made us all pround. Keep your heads high; you have our unwavering support. Best of luck for the future.”
In the first semi-final, Indian Women surpassed Bangladesh women in a one-sided competition.
