Macarthur defender learns length of ban after Round 9 red card

Macarthur Bulls centre-back Tomislav Mrcela is set to serve a one-game ban after receiving a red card in his side’s Round 9 clash with Central Coast Mariners.

Football Australia’s independent Match Review Panel (MRP) convened on Tuesday afternoon to consider the incident which occurred late in Macarthur’s draw with the Mariners.

Uskok received his straight red card after a challenge on Mariners striker Alou Kuol which the MRP, consisting of chair Simon Micallef, Alan Davidson and Con Diomis, deemed had denied the opposition an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

The Macarthur defender has received a one-game ban, which is the minimum for the offence, and will miss his side’s trip to face Perth Glory at HBF Park on Friday night.

Uskok will be eligible for selection once again in Macarthur’s Round 11 fixture against Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday, January 1.
