Macarthur Bulls sign Socceroo Anthony Caceres in huge coup: Details

Macarthur Bulls have signed CommBank Socceroos midfielder Anthony Caceres ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.

Caceres moves to Campbelltown from rivals Sydney FC, where he established himself as a club great thanks to a pair of Championships, a Premiership and an Australia Cup title in 216 appearances.

The decorated 32-year-old midfielder joins a Macarthur side who are gearing up for a campaign that will also feature AFC Champions League Two football.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Bulls at such a crucial time in my life and career. I hope in the season ahead we can bring a lot of joy and success to the club and fans,” Caceres said.

“After the conversations I had with Mile (Sterjovski) and Sam (Krslovic) I was excited by their vision with respect to my role and responsibilities in the team.

“The Bulls made a big effort to sign me and provided me and my family an opportunity to play football close to home. As a father and husband I always put my family first and Macarthur ticked all the boxes for what we are looking for at this stage of our lives.”

Caceres added: “I hope to bring a winning mentality to the club who has already won two Australia Cups, and with my experience contribute to building a team that will be successful in the coming season.”

His move to Macarthur also means a reunion with former Sydney FC teammate Luke Brattan.

Caceres is also the latest Bulls signing, after Callum Talbot (Melbourne City), Harry Politidis (Melbourne City), Zane Helweh (scholarship), Will McKay (scholarship) and Sebastian Krslovic (scholarship).

“Brattan is one of my closest mates and someone I have a great relationship with on the field,” said Caceres.

“We understand each others game very well and will compliment one another to the benefit of the team. We’ve had a lot of success in the past winning a number of trophies together and I hope to recreate some of those memories with the Bulls.”
