It was me’… Magomed Ankalaev reacts to Alex Pereira threatening to retire during social media hack

Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira have been exchanging blows on social media ever since they fought.

In March, the light heavyweight title changed hands as Ankalaev beat Pereira by decision at UFC 313.

Dana White immediately talked up a rematch, but there’s been no official announcement about it yet.

On Wednesday, fans were worried that something really bad had gone on behind the scenes between the UFC and Alex Pereira because the Brazilian KO artist hinted at retirement in a bizarre post on X.

Magomed Anklaev takes credit for Alex Pereira hack

Soon after, Pereira quelled fears of UFC retirement by posting a video responding to the tweet.

The former two-weight champion claimed he had been the victim of a social media hacker.

“I didn’t even know about it, I was hacked,” he said in a since-deleted Instagram video.

“It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, you guys see. But I was hacked and I’ll resolve it. I don’t even know what’s going on. I have a great relationship with UFC. People like to do bad things. That’s that. Chama.”

Ankalaev jokingly took credit for the hack job as he posted a response to Pereira’s controversial tweet.

What did the hacker tweet?

Pereira’s X account sent the MMA world into meltdown with a single tweet.

It aired an apparent issue between the UFC and its biggest star, who threatened to retire.

“I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that,” the hacker wrote.

“I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened.

“I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start.”

Thankfully, the situation was quickly cleared up and fans can continue looking forward to Pereira’s UFC return.

It seems to be just a matter of time before a date and location for the Ankalaev rematch is announced.
