Pachuca took home the spoils against Botafogo in the FIFA Derby of the Americas largely thanks to Oussama Idrissi. The winger was too much for the newly-crowned Brazilian and South American champions to handle, bagging a breathtaking goal and adding an assist in a memorable 3-0 triumph for Los Tuzos.

“It’s very strange to talk about this goal two hours later because I still can’t imagine the goal, how it went,” said Idrissi. “It’s for sure one of my favourite goals and one of my best goals ever. “It’s not easy to do this on the pitch or on the training ground. It’s even harder to do it in a game against strong opponents. So I’m really happy, proud, and it’s still unbelievable that I have scored a goal like this today.”

Idrissi’s stunner served as the winner. It came early in the second half, when he played a tidy one-two with Bryan Gonzalez before slaloming past two Botafogo defenders and firing home.

“It was a big surprise that I was able to score a goal like this,” added Idrissi. “Of course I have scored many goals like this in training. I’m a guy who likes dribbling, so for me it’s common to try and take on one or two players. In this case, I think I passed two players and scored.”

The win sent Pachuca into the FIFA Challenger Cup against Al Ahly on Saturday. The winners of this game will move on to play Real Madrid in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ final.

“We came here with dreams like everyone else,” said Idrissi. “Our ambition is to compete in every game, and we did that today. We showed that we have character, that we have quality in our team. We were very disciplined and I think we deserved to win today.”
