Glory sign City academy gun with ‘very high ceiling’: ‘Ready for a breakout season

Perth Glory have signed Melbourne City academy product Arion Sulemani on a two-year contract.

Sulemani, 20, made eight appearances for City in 2024-25 as Aurelio Vidmar’s side secured the Isuzu UTE A-League Championship.

The Subway Young Socceroos striker has left the reigning champions for the current wooden spooners in search of more playing time, and is eager to learn off Glory captain and Socceroos star Adam Taggart over the course of his two-year contract in the west.

“The main reason I wanted this move was to get consistent game time,” Sulemani said, “and with the club backing my ability 100% through (Football Director) Stan Lazaridis and the Head Coach (David Zdrilic), it was a no-brainer for me as a player to come to Perth.

“When the club backs you fully as a player, it makes you so much more confident in your ability to play.

“With the team, the signings the club has made and the direction it wants to go in, I feel like this season will be unreal and I can’t wait to meet the boys and get working in pre-season.

“Personally, I’d love to play consistently, score goals and learn as much as I can from players like Adam Taggart.

“I just can’t wait to start working and having a good season next year.”

It’s been a busy off-season for Glory and head coach David Zdrilic so far, with Sulemani becoming the sixth new arrival at the club along with Brian Kaltak, Sam Sutton, Scott Wootton, Callum Timmins and Mark Birighitti (2026-27).

“Arion is a quick, powerful striker with good feet who will provide us with another great option up top,” said Glory Football Director Lazaridis.

“His profile really suits David Zdrilic’s preferred style and we feel he has a very high ceiling as a player.

“Arion found himself vying for gametime with some superstar players at City, but we believe that he could be ready for a breakout season here at Glory and we’re really looking forward to helping him fulfil his potential.”
