Gaddafi Stadium renovations commence ahead of 2025 Champions Trophy

Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is undergoing a significant Rs7.7 billion renovation in preparation for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. As part of this large-scale upgrade, new steel structures, digital screens, and modern amenities are being introduced to elevate the stadium’s facilities.

The renovation, which is part of a broader Rs12.8 billion investment to revamp three major cricket venues across Pakistan, began with the demolition of certain enclosures at Gaddafi Stadium.

A major milestone is set for September 30, with the basement work of the stadium’s main building expected to be completed by that date. Afterward, one floor will be constructed each month, with the entire structure, including new pavilions, on track for completion by December 31.

Upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium include the installation of steel-structured enclosures designed to bring fans closer to the action, improving the spectator experience.

The stadium’s drainage system is also being modernized, and outdated floodlights will be replaced with cutting-edge LED technology to enhance night games. Digital screens will also be installed to provide a more immersive viewing experience.

This extensive renovation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for the Champions Trophy. Gaddafi Stadium, one of the key venues for the tournament, is expected to stand out with these upgrades, offering an enhanced experience for players and fans alike.

In addition to Gaddafi Stadium, significant renovations are also underway at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Stadium, with Rs3.5 billion and Rs1.5 billion allocated for their upgrades, respectively. These efforts reflect Pakistan’s dedication to hosting a memorable and successful 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
