Connor Rozee, Aliir Aliir injuries sour Power’s night

Sam Powell-Pepper, a forward player for Port Adelaide, has been ruled out for the rest of the AFL season due to a ruptured ACL.

During the third quarter of Power’s victory against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Friday night, Powell-Pepper left the field. The club confirmed the injury on Saturday and stated that Powell-Pepper will undergo surgery to repair his knee ligament in the coming days.

“We are extremely disappointed for Sam,” said Tim O’Leary, the head of medical services at Port Adelaide. Sam is a dedicated and hardworking athlete who always puts in his best effort during his training sessions, and we know he will approach his rehabilitation the same way.

He will remain involved with the team as much as he can, as he is an important member and leader of our playing group. It’s a tough injury for a footballer to go through, but we are all behind him and confident that he will come out of this stronger and more determined than ever before. Powell-Pepper had just returned to the team after serving a four-match suspension for a high bump during a preseason game. In another setback, Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee may not be fit for Thursday’s Showdown after suffering a low-grade hamstring strain. He will undergo an evaluation during the week to determine his fitness level.

The Power will be missing Aliir Aliir in their upcoming game against the Crows at Adelaide Oval. This is because the key defender suffered a concussion during their last game against St Kilda. Aliir has been placed in the concussion protocols following a tackle from St Kilda’s small forward Jack Higgins in the second quarter.

Higgins is now facing a three-match suspension after his dangerous tackle, which involved him slinging Aliir to the ground. The AFL’s match review officer has charged Higgins with rough conduct, grading the tackle as careless conduct, severe impact, and high contact.
