Coach’s praise for Wanderers gun with ‘unlimited potential’: ‘He has so much more in him’

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Alen Stajcic believes Nicolas Milanovic has “unlimited potential” as he lavished praise on the Isuzu UTE A-League star.

Milanovic continued his fine start to the season with another goal in Western Sydney’s drought-ending 2-0 win over Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Socceroos hopeful converted a first-half penalty to take his tally to five goals in 2024-25 – enough to take him to the top of the Golden Boot standings, before substitute Marcus Antonsson sealed the Wanderers’ first A-Leagues win over City in Melbourne since 2015.

Milanovic, who attracted European interest following a breakout campaign in 2023-24, was hailed by coach Stajcic post-match.

“I think he has so much more in him,” Stajcic said in his press conference after the Round 6 showdown.

“An attacking-minded player like him who sprinted back on numerous occasions to block crosses. He is playing against for me probably the best left-back in the competition (Aziz Behich) and has been for a long time, and obviously for the Socceroos.

“He had a tough job on his hands defensively and did all that and was still a threat going forward.
