Melbourne City have signed 27-year-old Canadian striker Kathryn Harvey on a one-year contract ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Harvey joins City from Turkish Women’s Football Super League club Fatih Vatan. Prior to her stint in Istanbul, Harvey spent two seasons at AaB Aalborg where she scored 13 goals in 21 appearances for the Danish club. Harvey was Aalborg’s top scorer in 2022 and played an important role in the club’s promotion to the Danish top tier.
Described as an athletic and dynamic striker by the club, Harvey arrives to give City an “attacking boost” as a replacement for Cariel Ellis who signed for City in the off-season but departed the club in pre-season for personal reasons.
City head coach Michael Matricciani praised Harvey as a player with flair and versatility as she signed for the Ninja A-League club.
“We’re excited to welcome Kathryn to our squad. Her experience in Europe and her ability to find the back of the net will further strengthen our attacking options,” Matricciani said.
“She’s a player who possesses great attacking flair and versatility in the final third, and we can’t wait to see her in action.”
