Champions Trophy 2025: Demolition of enclosures begins at Gaddafi Stadium

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Rs12.8 billion has been allocated for upgrading venues in preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Among these, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will see the most significant upgrades, with Rs7.7 billion earmarked for its renovation.

Demolition work has already begun on the stadium’s enclosures, and the construction of the basement and water tank is set to be completed by September 30.

After that, the plan is to finish one floor each month, with the entire building structure expected to be ready by December 31.

The upgraded stadium will feature steel-structured enclosures, designed to bring spectators closer to the action for a better viewing experience.

Additionally, the stadium’s drainage system is being modernized, new digital screens will be installed, and the floodlights will be replaced with modern LED lights.

The National Bank Stadium in Karachi is also undergoing renovations, with a budget of Rs3.5 billion, while Rawalpindi’s Pindi Stadium will be upgraded at a cost of Rs1.5 billion.

These improvements are part of PCB’s efforts to ensure the venues are ready to host the upcoming mega event.
