Canberra’s teen sensation earns Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year November nomination

Canberra United midfielder Mary Stanic-Floody Nishan has earned the November nomination for the Ninja A-League Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year award.

The Ninja A-League A-League Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year award is an annual prize awarded to the competition’s best young player from either Australia or New Zealand aged 23 and under; this season, players born no earlier than January 1 2001 are eligible for the award.

Stanic-Floody was nominated via a panel appointed by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The panel features an assortment of media representatives and technical football experts, who vote on a 3-2-1 basis at the conclusion of each nominated monthly period throughout the season.

The November period included games between Rounds 1-4, and Stanic-Floody played four games in that period. The 18-year-old scored two spectacular goals and notched one assist through the first four rounds of the season in a sparkling start to her second campaign at Canberra United.

Stanic-Floody not only earned the Young Footballer of the Year nomination for November, but she scored the Isuzu UTE Goal of the Month with a spectacular strike against Perth Glory.

Stanic-Floody and Canberra are back in action this weekend, travelling to AAMI Park to take on Melbourne City in an A-Leagues double-header.

Canberra are seventh heading into Round 6, but are just four points shy of league-leaders City. A win over the reigning Premiers would move Canberra into the fight for top spot on the Ninja A-League table.
