Canberra United sign local trio tipped to ‘flourish’ in the A-Leagues

Canberra United have sign three local products on scholarship contracts ahead of their Ninja A-League season opener.

Tianah Miro and Janet King and Ivana Galic have joined Canberra having impressed during an extended trial period with the capital club, who are scheduled to kick-off season 2024-25 against Brisbane Roar on Saturday.

Winger Miro and goalkeeper King arrive from treble-winning Canberra Olympic in NPLW, while defender Galic – who was previously part of Canberra United’s training squad in 2021 – makes the move via O’Connor Knights in the NPL Boy’s league.

“I am excited to be able to welcome Tianah, Janet, and Ivana into the Canberra United program on scholarship deals, and I am certain that they will flourish in the environment and become even better footballers,” head coach Antoni Jagarinec said.

“They were exceptionally good when representing the NPLW All-Stars in the recent friendly match and I brought them into the squad for an extended period off the back of that game, although they had been training with us prior to get a feel of the program.

“The NPL can be a rich breeding ground for talented footballers, one that is sometimes overlooked when compiling squads at Canberra United, but the success of this trio, plus the recent addition of Jaya Bowman, proves the NPL can be a healthy place to look.”
