Brisbane Roar tie down key American import ahead of finals charge

Brisbane Roar have secured a key part of their defensive unit moving forward, locking down defender Emily Pringle on a new one-year contract.

Joining the Roar from the University of California (UCLA) in the off-season, Pringle has become a key component of Alex Smith’s defence this campaign.

Making 17 appearances, 23-year-old Pringle has registered two goals and an assist so far this season for the side currently running sixth in the Ninja A-League.

Initially signed until the end of the current campaign, Pringle will now be staying in Queensland until the end of the 2025-26 Ninja A-League season after inking her new deal.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Roar for another season and to continue building on what we’ve accomplished,” said Pringle after the contract was signed.

“The support from our fans has also been amazing, and I’m excited for another year playing in front of such a special crowd!”

Brisbane Roar will look to strengthen their chances of playing finals football when they face league-leaders Melbourne City on Wednesday night at Perry Park.

Currently running sixth on the ladder, Roar have 25 points to their name having played 19 games however Smith will be hoping they can turn their recent poor form around which has now left them in danger of slipping out of the finals race.

Most recently beaten by Adelaide United 3-1 on Sunday, Brisbane are without a win in five matches and have lost four of those five games.
