Fabio Carvalho Shines as Brentford Advances in Carabao Cup
Thomas Frank made eight changes to the Brentford lineup following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City over the weekend, and it was Fabio Carvalho who made a significant impact in their Carabao Cup clash against Leyton Orient. The 21-year-old winger,
who joined Brentford from Liverpool last month in a £27.5m deal, scored his first goal for the club with a spectacular overhead kick. Carvalho’s goal came after Kevin Schade’s effort had bounced up in the box.
In addition to his goal, Carvalho also provided a superb assist with a lofted ball into the box, which Mikel Damsgaard converted for his own first Brentford goal. With Yoane Wissa sidelined for a few months due to an ankle injury sustained against Manchester City,
Carvalho’s standout performance could earn him more opportunities in the Premier League. His impressive display against Leyton Orient certainly strengthens his case for increased playing time under Frank.
